Consumer Cellular rip off

I just found out today 12/12/11 that consumer cellular has continued to charge my business credit card over $85 per month for service I changed in late July and early August. ATT would not cover where two of my phones needed to work so I had them changed out ot Verison. I left two lightly used phones on their service for $10 per month each. They continued to charge me the $85.99 until I caught it today. This is a business credit card and I don't monitor it closely myself. I thought I took care of dropping those two high usage phones. They claim I was to call back four days later after dropping those phones to make the change on the account then. No one told me that. If that was so important they could have called me four days later as a showing of good customer relations. Their supervisor "Jamaar" offered to split my last bill. I want all my money back. I see this as fraud and will take it up with my credit card company. These people know what they did and will not make it right so before you consider signing up take my advice and don't!

Consumer Cellular company is one of best that I have ever done business with. Not only do they have the best plan for seniors, but their service is excellent. I say to all my fellow seniors check out their plans and sign up for a great phone and service.

they post good reviews,but sure they got ones like this,got my wife their free phone,then later bought a nokia because had one with another company the best of 4 at the time,but after death of handicaped son we used our cell's rarely paid dearly so cancelled,went to tracfone,the c/c especially mine was zilch if it got a signal at all could not hear on it,we are going back to tracfone,cheepest yet,for low usage,trac got snappy bout service when contacted,but trac-with a double min for life card is much,much cheeper for old folk like us,low use after initial expense ,can go over 3 mos for less than $20 ,then left over mins carry ove if u do not let time lapse-retired do not work

after putting up with sprint i changed to consumer cellular thinking it would be better.i recieved a notice that i had used up 75% of my time in 2 weeks .i got my 1st.phone in 2001 and never used 500 min.in a month.to my suprize i found a call log in my phone with time day lenght of call and person i called total time counted was 1 hour and 20 min. i called cellular and had to wait 11 min. for someone to answer this time was added to my call time never had this with sprint when the women who aswered my call told me i couldn't get a copy of my calls until 2 weeks after i paid my bill she also was very rude i gave no reason for her to treat me like that i know she doesn't run the co. so i just feel i was duped because when i accessed my account all that came up was a constant add for me to up grade.this was one of the main reasons i left sprint.i shall look else were tomorrow for service shame on these people they lie to seniors.

It's incredable how expensive cell phones have become for consumers. But everyones reviews here have prevented me from trying Consumer Cellular.

I didn't think anyone could be worse then Sprint's dropped calls and $500 to $600 in excess fees in two months. I was with Sprint for many many years but got fed up with them because I spent more time on the phone trying to get things fixed. I'm with AT&T now (2 years) I pay a little more but I never had a dropped call. Their customer service is good.

However, I'm suspicious of AT&T's phone because exactly when my 2 yr contract was up my phone started to screw up. It shuts off without notice and I can't access anything until I get a call or call myself. But I found a way to get it to work while I look for a new phone. If I call my phone from Skype or call a number that I previously called it starts working again.

My contract is up with AT&T so I'm looking around and it is obvious that Consumer Cellular is not the way to go. I thank everyone for putting their reviews out there for everyone to see.

Sounds like a pity party. No provider just takes money off your card.

You either have to authorize it or be setup on autopay which takes the payment off the card YOU gave them to put on your acct for monthly payments. SO you are out of luck.

Don't do business with this company and save yourself a lot of problems. Extremely poor customer service, low quality products and major rip off artists. They do not care a out their customers and they have an arrogant attitude to go with it. There are no pros, only cons in dealing with this company. Their website is misleading. They show one thing on charges and then charge a different amount. God Bless any consumer who deals with them! They love to argue, play games with your mind and rip you off. Consumer Cellular can go south. No one would miss them.

You are ***. I have the highest credit rating around because I not only pay my bills, but I pay them before they are due.

But, I will not pay for misrepresented services, corporate theft, incorrect billings, etc. Obviously, you have never had a run in with a company trying to rip you off. Do not assume that the company is right. This company completely misleads consumers.

If you like them so much, see how well you do with them. I'm not the only one who has had a problem with them.

They have numerous complaints on BBB about their lousy attitudes, service, and mispresentations. Have a great day dumbo!

I would never use Consumer Cellular again. My phone was lost and I immediately called and they supposedly shut it off.

Then customer service said when you get home call if you want it turned back on. I had no phone how was I to do that. I called back the next day from work and said I needed a new phone they said it would be $39.95 for activation I asked if they could submit the bill one day later as I needed a phone ASAP or I would lose my job. THe rep spoke to the manager and he said no way and it did not matter.

SO I was told when i paid the fee they would send a phone and it would take 3-5 business days to get the phone. Unacceptable as I would have been without a job. So I called and cancelled the service completely today and they told me I will get a pro-rated bill for days the phone was not even active as they turned it off.

THis company is a rip off! DO NOT USE CONSUMER CELLULAR THEY ARE JERKS AND WAY OVERPRICED!

Consumer is no worse than any other soul sucking corporation. The problem is that they are exactly the same as every other company while pretending they are more people friendly. They don't care about the customer in the same way that T Mobile or Verizon or AT&T don't care. I have no customer loyalty to them which frees me up to look for something else. The unfortunate situation that we are all in is that there is no longer a company where we can get excellent service and an excellent product. Those days are gone. Beware of these types of corporations who try to convince us that they are different, that they care. Consumer Cellular does not.

Try Tracfone. Have had them for about a year and no complaints from me.

Have read reviews about lousy cs but have never had to use them. Great coverage and reception.

You might want to try Tracfone. I have had them for over a year and have had no problems. No problems so I haven't had to contact customer service which,from some reviews,is less than stellar.

I get great reception almost everywhere with my LG 420g phone, even in wyoming on I-80 where most phones don't even have a signal.
